Most people have several boxes of sensitive documents or an old computer that they know they should destroy, but they don't know who to call to securely dispose of the items.
ShredStation San Diego is now offering a new service to help you protect your business and your customers' information. ShredStation Express is a home and business pick-up service that can securely destroy documents and electronics.
The company enables consumers and businesses to establish a formal system for destruction to comply with privacy laws and avoid fines for improper disposal. With identity theft and personal privacy invasion at all time highs, the careless disposal of sensitive information can lead to a world of trouble.
Simply putting documents in the trash cannot only cost people their identity and ruin a good credit score, but as a business, companies could be breaking the law and risking thousands of dollars in fines. Last year, there were 448 companies guilty of data breaches responsible for exposing the private information of more than 127 million people.
“Consumers are fed up with home shredders. The majority of our customers have home shredders but can't imagine investing the time required to destroy boxes of material at the rate of six pages at a time,” said Sandy Caso, president of ShredStation San Diego. “We help our customers prevent identity theft and avoid being fined for data breaches by providing each one with proof, a Certificate of Destruction, that their material has been destroyed.”
Caso added that everything that is destroyed is recycled, so it's an environmentally conscious operation.
The locally-owned franchise dispatches service vans to homes and small businesses to pick up sensitive documents that are taken to a ShredStation Secure Destruction Facility and destroyed. There is no limit to the number of boxes ShredStation Express will pick up and the company also will destroy old computers and other electronics, including cell phones.
