Carlsbad Chamber Community Foundation to Host National Civics Bee® Regional Competition for Middle Schoolers in Carlsbad, CA

 

CARLSBAD, CA — On Thursday, May 14th, the Carlsbad Chamber Community Foundation will host a 2026 National Civics Bee Regional Competition aimed at encouraging more young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Middle school students from across San Diego County will demonstrate their civics knowledge, discuss how they would solve a problem facing their community, and compete for cash prizes.

 WHO: The participants will be 18-20 middle school students who are the Regional Finalists; Master of Ceremonies, Chris Cochran, Director of Operations at the Carlsbad Chamber Community Foundation; Emcee, Bret Schanzenbach, President & CEO of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce; Judges Steve Baker, Said Eshgahi, and Leslie Shneider, and guest speaker Kirsten Garvin, Sr. Site Experience Manager at Thermo-Fisher Scientific.

 WHAT: The National Civics Bee is an annual competition that encourages young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities.

 WHEN: Thursday, May 14th from 3:00pm – 5:00pm
