The King Benefits team is preparing for the most chaotic open enrollment in history. In 2014, 90% of small groups (businesses with less than 50 employees) changed their renewal date to December. This gave them an opportunity to keep their existing insurance before the 2015 Affordable Care Act plans came into effect. Carriers struggled to keep up with the influx of December renewals last year.

Now, businesses with 50-100 employees are also considered “small group” and will be selecting from the same plans. The cost of health care has consistently risen for the past 5 years. This year is no different.

The best advice: Get to work early on your renewal.

“I highly encourage seeking a second opinion on your health care decisions this year,” says Bill King, founder of William J. King and Associates. “This year, more than any year prior, I’m seeing extremely unique ways to save on employee benefits, but only a few businesses are taking advantage of this.”

In addition to preparing for open enrollment, King Benefits is proud to announce a new resource available to all the members of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. Available now at KingBenefits.com is a new video library geared at helping make sense of all the recent changes to health insurance. These videos cover a wide range of topics including advice for employers attempting to make the best decisions for their business, and overviews for employees looking for help selecting benefits for their families.

“I was clueless when it came to selecting insurance plans.” said Keaton, one of the producers of these films. “It is no secret that the majority of us do not understand the ins and outs of how health care works. These are difficult topics to tackle. I believe video is a great avenue to educate our community. I know I would have wanted these resources when making my insurance elections.”

“And that is what this effort is all about,” says Bill. “We want our clients to make decisions easily, and with confidence. Online human resource tools and this video series are going to accomplish both.”

In recent years King Benefits has also been offering a full suite of human resources services. “We’ve realized the importance of offering all HR services,” says Jeromy White, one of Bill’s partners. “Payroll and benefits are so closely related. The first thing you see on your paycheck is your health insurance costs.”

Businesses are streamlining human resources by utilizing online tools. The tools King Benefits offers automatically sync with one another, not only saving time and money but by also minimizing errors. You can administer benefits, payroll, time and attendance, and onboarding of new employees with one system. The process is much easier.

Located in Carlsbad, Bill King owns and operates one of the largest independent brokerage firms in Southern California. For the past 45 years, Bill has provided quality healthcare to the Carlsbad community and it all starts with the excellent service his team provides.
