The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad are moving closer to building a new, state-of-the-art clubhouse in the Bressi Ranch Development, thanks to a generous donation from Grand Pacific Resorts, Inc. The company donated $75,000 to the non-profit organization which will be used to fund the 18,000-square-foot building located southeast of El Camino Real and Palomar Airport Road. The new building will house the club's headquarters and replace the Village branch, built in 1953, and a small modular building that serves as the La Costa branch. The new digs are expected to serve 200 young members on a daily basis.
"There are already 15,000 kids between the ages of 6 and 18 in the City of Carlsbad and that number is expected to double in the next five years," said Patrick Casinelli, Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad's chief volunteer officer. "To make sure our children have a positive and structured environment during the after school hours, this new clubhouse is critical, and we can't thank Tim Stripe [co-president of Grand Pacific Resorts, Inc. and chairman of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce] and Grand Pacific Resorts, Inc. enough for this generous gift."
