The design competition held earlier this year, sponsored by the City of Carlsbad and the Chamber's Downtown Task Force, showcased ideas for redevelopment of two properties located on State Street in the Carlsbad Village. The winning designs can be viewed by logging on to the Chamber's webpage, www.carlsbad.org, and selecting the "Design Competition Presentations" link.
In recognition of the winning design, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and the City of Carlsbad held an awards presentation and panel discussion on November 3, 2005 from 3-5 p.m. at the Carlsbad Village Theatre. There was a seminar with short presentations by Kennedy Smith, of The CLUE Group and past Executive Director of the National Main Street Center; Jay Turner, past Executive Director of North Park Main Street Association and Peder Norby, Executive Director of the Downtown Encinitas Main Street. They each provided information showing how a Main Street Association can benefit the city.

After the presentations, the speakers were joined by Debbie Fountain, Carlsbad Housing and Redevelopment Director, for an open panel discussion on the future of redevelopment in the Carlsbad Village.
