The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce along with the Carlsbad Business Environment Committee (CBEC) sponsored their annual City Bus Tour on March 2.
Approximately 35 people, including Chamber members and staff, hopped aboard a Cloud 9 shuttle bus to get an in depth tour of Carlsbad. A representative from Carlsbad's Planning Department, Scott Donnell, served as the tour host and emcee for this year's event.
"The annual City Tour is designed to help chamber members see all the development that is going on in Carlsbad," says Michael Babowal, Director of Government Affairs for the Carlsbad Chamber. "This includes existing developments, projects that are in the process of being developed or future developments."
A tour map was provided for each participant to keep track and take notes along the way. The approximately two-hour ride began at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, took the guests North past Buena Vista Lagoon, along the coast, down to the Southern part of Carlsbad then finally up the east side of town and ending at the Chamber.
Tour participants received information, factoids and trivia such as: a 700-room resort will be built next to the golf course off of College Boulevard and Faraday; the site for Robertson Ranch is the last plot of vacant land available for master-planned communities in Carlsbad and that Mt. Calavera is a dormant volcano.
