What got you into this business? A desire to collaborate with my father on a venture that leveraged his preventative expertise and credibility in the medical community. The service to be offered was based on the prevention of life threatening disease.

What makes your business a standout? The technology we employ is extremely rare, and the services we offer help prevent the leading causes of death in America. One of our tests, the Electron Beam CT Coronary Calcium Score, has been proven to be the most effective non-invasive test to detect and determine risk for coronary heart disease.

Drawbacks to your line of business: Preventative medicine doesn't pay. Less than 5% of the Nation's tax dollars are spent on prevention, and there is no insurance reimbursement for our core imaging services.

Why is your company located in Carlsbad? We wanted to be in a region of North County that was not saturated with imaging facilities, close to the 5 freeway, and showed strong potential for a growing and affluent community.

How do you plan to grow? By creating a balance between physician and self referred clients. This is a very challenging task, as it requires us to be both clinical and consumer friendly at the same time. Two entirely separate initiatives are required to effectively communicate with both the physician and general population. There is also a continual demand for significant investments necessary to maintain technology and diagnostic performance levels that exceed consumer and physician expectations.

Toughest career decision: Opting out of pursuing legal action against a business partner in a previous venture.

Ongoing challenges: Commercial and Government Health insurance plans and their disinterest in prevention.

Best way to stay competitive: Consistently exceed your customers' expectations.

In five years, where would you like your business to be? A full service preventative imaging and diagnostic business model with franchise potential.

What does your company contribute to the Carlsbad community? Our company provides notoriety to the community, allowing it be seen as leading the County in life saving medical advancements.

What are your guiding principles? Service, ethics, responsibility and gratitude.

What's one thing other people do not know about you? I have no sense of humor.

What would you change if you could do it all over again? I would have waited a year longer before opening our doors.
