On May 4, several groups of eager volunteers arrived at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce headquarters to participate in the Chamber's annual "Member Appreciation Day", M.A.D.
Over 1,000 stylish black carry-all bags, donated courtesy of Carlsbad Premium Outlets, were stocked with the Chamber's new Business Resource Guide, the Around Town in Carlsbad map of the village and a 2006 membership plaque to be hand delivered to every member in Carlsbad. Members outside of Carlsbad received their goods via the mail.
M.A.D. is an opportunity for volunteers to acknowledge their fellow members and give them a personal "thank you" for being a part of the Carlsbad Chamber. It is also an appropriate time to remind them to think members first when purchasing goods or services and to introduce themselves and/or their business to professionals they might not otherwise have come into contact with. Volunteers are able to network and possibly gain valuable business partnerships, one of the many pluses of being involved with the Chamber.
There was also a contest for early bird volunteers that kicked off at 8:00 am. The first three volunteers to return with the contact information for ten prospective Chamber members received a $100 gift card. The winners were Cindy Broderdorf, Lee Watson and Patrick Shakarjian.
