SDG&E is a regulated public utility company that provides safe and reliable energy service to 3.3 million electric meters and more than 800,000 natural gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties. The utility’s area spans 4,100 square miles.

Whether you are a small business customer or a large one, a builder or developer, or a business considering expanding in the San Diego area, SDG&E is ready to help you achieve your goals. Their services are designed to improve productivity, reduce energy consumption and cost and help prevent blackouts.

SDG&E provides a number of services to large and small businesses. One of the many programs geared toward helping businesses is the Small Business Super Saver, a local non-residential retrofit program that helps customers off-set the cost of making energy-efficiency improvements that help reduce operating costs.

SDG&E’s Small Business Super Saver Rebate program has cash rebates available to small business customers for energy-efficient lighting, refrigeration, food service and other technologies. Rebates apply to small business customers who meet the minimum requirements.

There are several other ways to help your business save energy.

For example, SDG&E's Commercial Audit program can help you understand just how and where you are using electricity. You can choose from a quick online survey to a comprehensive on-site audit.

Their Online Business Energy Analyzer is a simple survey that can provide the answers you need in only a few minutes. It provides a customized evaluation that shows energy-saving suggestions for the areas where your business uses the most energy and ideas for reducing energy costs.

An on-site energy audit is comprehensive and ideal for commercial customers that need a more in-depth look at their energy consumption. Upon completion of the audit, a detailed survey will be mailed to you outlining possible energy-savings steps that your business can make.

What are the best and quickest ways for a business to save? Here are few simple ways that businesses can reduce energy consumption while continuing to provide a comfortable environment for employees and customers.
1. Reduce lighting where possible and take advantage of natural daylight. Also, remove excess lighting, and turn off signage and other lights not necessary for security and safety.
2. Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), which can last up to ten times longer but use up to 75 percent less energy.
3. Adjust the thermostat down in the winter and up in the summer and shut off when not in use. Even a few degrees can significantly reduce heating and air conditioning costs.
4. Turn off or set office equipment to power down when not in use. Turning off one computer and monitor nightly and on weekends can save up to $80 a year. And setting PCs, monitors and copiers to use sleep mode when not in use can help cut energy costs by up to 50 percent.
5. Invest in energy-efficient equipment. When upgrading or adding new equipment, look for the ENERGY STAR? symbol, which indicates the equipment meets federal standards for energy efficiency.
