On November 6, the second-annual Shop Under the Stars charity fundraiser event presented by the Carlsbad Premium Outlets will take place at the popular shopping Center.

Shop Under the Stars proceeds willbenefit several charitable organizations in the greater San Diego area including Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, Casa de Amparo, Children's Hospital of San Diego, Girls Incorporated of San Diego, Helen Woodward Animal Center, Train Rite and the Simon Youth Foundation. Members of these organizations sell tickets to their supporters with the total cost of the tickets being distributed to each of the charity organizations.

In addition to taking advantage of incredible bargains just in time for holiday gift-giving, ticket holders will be treated to a cocktail reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bellefleur Restaurant, a place well-known for its warm, welcoming ambiance. Attendees will enjoy fine wines, elegant hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail created especially for the evening, the Shoppertini. There will also be a silent auction and hourly raffles with over $30,000 in prizes. Between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., 'afterglow shopping' will still be available along with Starbucks coffee throughout the starlit Center.

"It was no-hassle shopping and fun with friends while helping families and patients in the Autism Center at Children’s Hospital," said Children's Hospital Auxiliary Board member Gelia Cook, who attended last year's event.

Kelly Morrison Pop, Director of Development for Boys & Girls of Carlsbad, who also attended last year said, "We are honored to be selected as a benefiting charity of Shop under the Stars. Proceeds directly support quality programming for our members and offer diverse activities in character, leadership, education and career development; health and life skills, the arts and sports." Continues Morrison Pop, "We thank Carlsbad Premium Outlets for hosting this event and helping enable our community's young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive citizens."

Girls Incorporated of San Diego will also benefit from the proceeds again this year. "The funds generated from this event assist with inspiring girls to be strong, smart and bold. Eighty-five percent of the girls ages 6-18 years old served by Girls Incorporated of San Diego come from households with annual incomes of $20,000 or less," said Board President, Brita Tesar.

Other charities, such as the Helen Woodard Animal Center, rely on donations, grants and sponsorships to carry out their services to the community. Their services include bringing animals and people together through a variety of beneficial programs, reaching out to orphaned pets, homebound seniors, the physically and mentally challenged and abused children. The world-renowned Center is dedicated to unique programs "where people help animals and animals help people." It has grown to serve 50,000 adults and children and 10,000 animals each year.

Some very special four-legged guests will also be attending this year's event. Train Rite Assistance Dogs will be seeking the attention of friendly shoppers throughout the evening. "The evening is sure to be pawsitively spectacular," stated Train Rite Development Coordinator, Tarin Barnes.

Last year's inaugural event brought many shoppers to the center in an early kick-off to the holiday shopping season. Shoppers will once again enjoy exclusive savings at many of the designer and name-brand stores throughout the Center.

Tickets for the event are $25 in advance and $35 at the door, and can be purchased from any of the participating organizations or at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets Information Center.
