What would you like North County to know about any new product or service you provide or are currently developing?
Water is life. Hydranautics manufactures reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membrane products for water treatment applications to meet the rapidly growing clean water needs of the global community. Our products are in use worldwide in a variety of applications producing over 1 billion gallons of clean water per day.
What do you like about being located in North County?
Hydranautics' 14-acre, 160,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and global headquarters in Oceanside is larger than two soccer fields put together, making it one of the largest membrane manufacturers in the world. A favorable climate, healthy lifestyle, culturally diverse workforce and globally oriented business community make North County San Diego an ideal location for Hydranautics' flagship operations.
What local factors have contributed to your company's success and what has the community done to facilitate that?
Reverse osmosis membrane technology first became commercially available right here in San Diego, when General Atomics developed celluloid acetate membranes to purify water. Since then, this region has been central in developing technologies, products and people to address clean water issues ranging from desalination, water reclamation and wastewater reuse; all critical needs in San Diego County. Because North County San Diego is essentially an arid desert region, water issues remain in the forefront of public policy and private enterprise, making this the ideal home for water technology industries.
