On August 26, hundreds of electric guitar enthusiasts from Oakland to Auckland turned up in Carlsbad at the Museum of Making Music as part of a 3-day celebration of the 75th anniversary of the electric guitar sponsored by the Rickenbacker.

Festivities included an opening reception and several star-studded performances that helped generate $28,000 for the Museum.

The central focus of the celebration was an exhibit highlighting the contributions Rickenbacker has made to the evolution of the electric guitar. The exhibit is on display at the Museum through December 2006.

The anniversary event also featured two exclusive performances hosted by the Museum and emceed by Billy Hinsche of Dino, Desi and Billy. The Church and All About Eve guitarist and singer, Marty Willson-Piper and his Mood Maidens warmed the evening followed by an intimate musical dialogue with Jefferson Starship's founding member Paul Kantner. Sound for the evening was generously sponsored and supervised by Bose Corporation.

The two concerts and exhibit opening generated $28,000 in proceeds. Hall generously arranged that the proceeds be earmarked for the Museum of Making Music?s ongoing operations, educational community outreach programs and historical exhibit development.
