Faced with unfunded state seismic mandates and future growth needs for the community, the Tri-City Healthcare District is reviewing its current master facilities plan for Tri-City Medical Center, and the public's input is critical.
“Tri-City Medical Center is this community's hospital. Parts of our facility are nearly half a century old,” said Larry Schallock, chair of Tri-City's board of directors. “We need to know directly what our patients and residents want in health care service as we plan for the next 50 years.”
The district has set up numerous public meetings through its planning consultant team, HGA-Jensen, to gather feedback. Opportunities for community input took place through public meetings held in September. The public will again have several chances to provide input during numerous meetings this month. Through the planning review process, HGA-Jensen is reviewing the current master facilities plan, meeting with key stakeholder groups throughout the district and the community, reviewing current and proposed state seismic and building code requirements and analyzing current usage and future volume projections. All of the data and input will be used to evaluate whether the existing plan meets future needs or if it will need to be revised based on new information and community feedback.
Once the HGA-Jensen team finishes gathering public input they will go back to the community with initial design proposals. By December, HGA-Jensen plans on releasing a draft proposal for public review on its recommendations for a potentially revised master facilities planning study.
