The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is partnering with SCORE to offer a series of four workshops through the chamber's Small Business Success Center.
Each workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Carlsbad Chamber, 5934 Priestly Drive. The topics include:
• May 18, Financial Statements. Learn how to understand the terms used in financial reporting, how to classify the data correctly and how to use the information to maintain or grow your business.
• June 1, Financing Your Business. Find out about some of the funding sources and the specific requirements these entities have in place to evaluate funding requests. An experienced Small Business Administration officer will explain the process for SBA loans, a banker will talk about various loans available and a SCORE counselor will discuss other options for obtaining funding.
• June 15, Tax Considerations for Small Business. Learn the information required to file income, sales and payroll tax returns. Find out how taxes and tax decisions affect your business decisions. Learn the tax impact of business growth on cash flow and important tax rules that can save you tax dollars.
• June 22, Hiring and Managing Employees. Gain the knowledge to decide if you can afford to hire an employee, what types of employees will fit your needs, how to define the work to be done and how to recruit and interview prospects. Learn about the legal requirements governing the employment relationship.
The price is $29 per workshop for Carlsbad Chamber members. The prospective member price is $59.
However, those chamber members who buy all four workshops will receive a discounted price of $100 total; the prosepctive member price is $200. The workshops also are available at a discounted price to members of the Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista chambers.
