The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce has a new emphasis this year: Membership Counts!
“While like a business the Carlsbad Chamber wants to grow its membership, we realize that member benefits are what are important to the consumer, membership counts,” said Toni Padron, the Carlsbad Chamber's executive vice president and COO.
As part of this initiative, there will be a significant difference in the price to attend workshops and events for chamber members and prospective members. The Carlsbad Chamber also is working to partner more with neighboring chambers, such as Encinitas, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista, to offer a larger networking pool to members, as well as more benefits.
“We're really rolling out the red carpet for our members this year,” said Bev Jorgensen, the Carlsbad Chamber's vice president of corporate and member relations. “They will receive VIP treatment at all of our events and other happenings.”
The chamber also plans to offer members more services this year through its Small Business Success Center. In addition, more peer and referral groups will be available to members.
As a membership-based organization, the chamber offers education, business resources and the opportunity to make connections that companies need to maintain, thrive and grow. The chamber has always encouraged its members to only work with other members and will work even harder this year to spread that message.
“In these times, joining a chamber is an even smarter financial decision because you can increase your business through relationship building,” Jorgensen said. “As the second largest chamber in the county, we are a regional business resource.”
The Membership Counts! logo can be found on all of the chamber's invoices and in the award-winning Carlsbad Business Journal, which only contains stories and information about members.
About 85 percent of the chamber's members are small businesses, some of which are short staffed. Membership really does count because the chamber works for its members 24/7, providing the support they need and marketing their companies through the business directory, Web site and Carlsbad Business Journal, as well as referrals.
“Now is the time for people to start looking to the chamber for their business resources, whatever their needs may be,” Jorgensen said.
