Background:
Smith grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and joined the army in 1990. He dabbled in the music industry, recording albums and supervising the production of multiple records, before making a career change in 2002.
Smith worked his way through various positions, eventually deciding his real goal was to own his own business.
He opened AM 1 in January 2005 and now oversees all company operations.

What I like about this is you're helping empower people financially and you're educating them on the direction in which their family needs to go.

What do you like about Carlsbad?
There no gang problems, there is no graffiti, the parking is free, the beach is free, the weather is great. As a business person, I think San Diego has tremendous room for growth. This is basically the same exact economic environment that they Bay Area went through 20 years ago, it is booming.
