Trucks that are running and licensable, a four-wheel drive pick-up for security and a three-fourth ton or larger stakebed for maintenance; funding for conference room chairs and new furniture for one conference room; improved lighting fixtures for three conference rooms.

How the organization measures success
First and foremost, through positive feedback from pleasurable experiences by visitors. We also have the usual methods to measure success such as event attendance, income, direct-mail, advertising and website measurements.

Best recent moment
When we had more than ten times the amount of walk-in attendees at our Christmas in the Garden event compared to last year. The word is getting out, the Mission is a great place to visit with wonderful events.

Little known information
Mission San Luis Rey is the region's jewel. The largest of the 21 California missions, the Mission recently ranked first among the Seven Wonders of North San Diego County, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. People of all faiths, including history buffs, educators and children are invited to experience the Franciscan spirituality and hospitality on the beautiful and peaceful 56 acres. There is something for all age groups to enjoy. Each year, over 20,000 fourth-graders tour the grounds as part of their educational curriculum learning about California history and the Missions. The museum houses newly restored artwork, the historic cemetery has available burial plots and niches, and a retreat center hosts educational and interactive retreats.

Get involved
There are many activities for volunteers to help with from events in the Museum, Retreat Center to the rose garden. For more information contact Diane Pal at (760) 757-3651, ext. 161.
