The city of Carlsbad and KemperSports look forward to the debut of The Crossings at Carlsbad, the long-awaited and highly anticipated championship golf course located along the north side of Palomar Airport Road at 5800 Hidden Valley Road. With a grand opening date of Aug. 4 looming less than three months away, a true sense of excitement is permeating throughout our seaside community.

The Carlsbad community and surrounding areas have welcomed The Crossings at Carlsbad with open arms. Local businesses, associations and charity foundations have sparked pre-opening interest and excitement, scheduling golf tournaments and outings well in advance. There has also been a myriad of requests to use the soon-to-open venue for weddings and receptions, given the property's castle-style 28,000-square-foot clubhouse, complete with fireplace, private dining rooms and incomparable views.

The 18-hole championship-caliber golf course and event facility are nestled amongst more than 1,000 acres of the city's total coastal terrain and natural habitat. The layout, open to the public and measuring 6,835 yards, is home to wetlands, sagebrush and other plant, animal and bird life. With views of the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Southern California Peninsular Mountain Ranges in the distance to the east, the vantage point from this recreational and community-focused destination is unrivaled, showcasing the course's distinctiveness.

Nationally recognized golf course architect Greg Nash has worked tirelessly on behalf of the community since the early 1990s to bring its dream of a public golf course to fruition. Nash has designed more than 80 courses throughout his notable career, primarily in the western regional states. At The Crossings at Carlsbad, he has blended the art of beautiful and playable course design with sophisticated irrigation and landscape plans to ensure conservative water use and fiscally responsible course maintenance. With preservation as the core of this Carlsbad development, the design process was carefully executed with deliberate course routing to protect the habitat. The result, a golf course and community facility beyond compare.

The course design features five sets of tees at each hole, allowing players of any skill level to enjoy a round on The Crossings at Carlsbad. Golf carts equipped with in-cart GPS navigation and information systems will provide state-of-the-art transportation for golfers along the seven-mile cart path that winds around the course. Generous, undulating fairways with large greens and numerous flag positions make for a new and refreshing golf experience upon each return.

Home to Canyons restaurant, The Crossings at Carlsbad is destined to become a favorite meeting and dining establishment for golfers and non-golfers alike. Canyons will be open daily, featuring a full-service restaurant and bar, three private dining rooms and a large banquet and reception facility accommodating up to 300 guests. Both indoor and outdoor seating will be available, highlighted by breathtaking ocean views.

The property will also feature a fully lighted driving range as well as a picnic area and public trails that link to the city's extensive trail system. The golf course will link to the trail system as part of the City's Habitat Management Plan to protect and promote the open space areas and resources in the community.
