The Carlsbad Convention and Visitors Bureau is prepared for the arrival of tourists with its newly-published annual visitors guide. The full-sized glossy visitors guide is packed with essential information about Carlsbad. The free guide is an excellent reference for vacation planning, day trips or for local residents preparing for the influx of summer house guests.
For potential visitors in the planning mode, the guide offers “how to” information such as getting to Carlsbad by air, rail or car. It covers local transportation and information for travelers wanting to visit Mexico.

Features include “Carlsbad History,” “Our Beaches,” “The Lagoons,” “Hiking & Walking Trails,” “Dining & Nightlife,” “Shopping,” ” Carlsbad Golf,” and the diverse selection of accommodations that Carlsbad enjoys. For vacationers with a little more time, “Regional Attractions” helps travelers explore a bit more of the area.

The innovative 40-page magazine-formatted guide is filled with user-friendly information, maps, beautiful photography and events. It assists visitors in making the most of their visit, whether the trip is to reconnect with family, tour the attractions or just relax and rejuvenate.

During the summer months many visitors are here for day trips, some of them spend the night in the homes of family and friends, and the rest book rooms in our local hotels and motels. The Carlsbad CVB's website, www.visitcarlsbad.com, will have a digital format of the new guide available online in June. We suggest our local residents go online, check it out and recommend it to your summer guests.

The bureau is pleased to report that for the fiscal year ending June 30 the TOT is expected to reach a high of nearly 13 million dollars. Tourism in Carlsbad is healthy, thanks to consumer confidence, a healthy national economy and the efforts of your Carlsbad Convention & Visitors Bureau in promoting to the leisure travel market. We all know that Carlsbad is a wonderful “Village by the Sea,” however; in the highly competitive visitor industry we cannot become complacent about getting the Carlsbad brand in the forefront of potential visitors. Carlsbad is also unique in having an excellent choice of activities and attractions to satisfy just about any traveler's taste and the summer looks to bring even more exciting options for vacationers to choose from during their visit.

Approximately 80 percent of the city's visitors are leisure travelers from a variety of demographics with diverse vacation requirements. Some of the “niche” markets within our leisure travel market include families traveling with children, cultural tourists, eco-tourists, baby boomers and seniors. Carlsbad is also a specialty destination bringing in golfers, spa enthusiasts and cruise ship travelers.

Your Convention & Visitors Bureau encourages you to explore and enjoy all the wonderful amenities Carlsbad has to offer to its visitors and residents alike.
