The City of Carlsbad, KemperSports and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce look forward to the debut of The Crossings at Carlsbad, the long-awaited and highly anticipated championship golf course located along the north side of Palomar Airport Road at 5800 Hidden Valley Road, behind Legoland. With a grand opening date of August 4 looming less than three weeks away, a true sense of excitement is permeating throughout this seaside community.

The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce will host the course's opening tournament Aug. 6, which will feature a million-dollar hole-in-one shootout and a putting contest.
“We are so excited to be involved with this course's opening,” said Lisa Manemann. “The level of excitement from Carlsbad Chamber members and the community at large in response to our tournament Aug. 6 has been amazing.”

The Carlsbad community and surrounding areas have welcomed The Crossings at Carlsbad with open arms. Local businesses, associations and charity foundations have sparked pre-opening interest and excitement, scheduling golf tournaments and outings in advance.

The 18-hole championship-caliber golf course and event facility are nestled amongst more than 1,000 acres of the city's total coastal terrain and natural habitat. The layout, open to the public and measuring 6,835 yards, is home to wetlands, sagebrush and other plant, animal and bird life. With views of the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Southern California Peninsular Mountain Ranges in the distance to the east, the vantage point from this recreational and community-focused destination is unrivaled, showcasing the course's distinctiveness.

“The Crossings is a real asset to Carlsbad. The opening tournament is an excellent way to introduce the course to the community,” Manemann said.
Carlsbad businesses such as TaylorMade-adidas Golf, Grand Pacific Resorts, Inc., and Westfield Plaza Camino Real, among others, are sponsoring the tournament and its various activities.

“TaylorMade-adidas Golf is committed to the game of golf and the opening of new golf courses indicates positive growth for the game. We're proud to partner with The Crossings and the (Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce) for their first-ever event in our hometown,” said Scott Leightman, a spokesperson for the company.

At The Crossings at Carlsbad, nationally recognized golf course architect Greg Nash blended the art of beautiful and playable course design with sophisticated irrigation and landscape plans to ensure conservative water use and fiscally responsible course maintenance. With preservation as the core of this Carlsbad development, the design process was carefully executed with deliberate course routing to protect the habitat.

Because of the interest surrounding the course and the Carlsbad Chamber's tournament, all tournament spots were filled within two weeks of becoming available.

“We were inundated with interest in the tournament and spots for golfers and sponsorships were filled right away,” Manemann said.

The Carlsbad Chamber is dedicated to helping local charities and proceeds from the golf tournament will be donated to the Partners in Education Foundation and the Wounded Warriors Center at Camp Pendleton.

“It was very important to us to use the tournament as an opportunity to help our community,” Manemann said.

Because the course is so unique, participants in the golf tournament will have the chance to see up close what makes The Crossings special.

The course design features five sets of tees at each hole, allowing players of any skill level to enjoy a round on The Crossings at Carlsbad. Golf carts equipped with in-cart GPS navigation and information systems will provide state-of-the-art transportation for golfers along the seven-mile cart path that winds around the course. Generous, undulating fairways with large greens and numerous flag positions make for a new and refreshing golf experience upon each return.

“For those who want to participate in the tournament's festivities, but not play golf, the Carlsbad Chamber is hosting an evening awards dinner at The Crossings' new clubhouse. This will include a delicious dinner, live auction and silent auction,” Manemann said.

For golfers interested in playing the course, the announcement of tee time availability for the course will be made first to those that register for The Crossings at Carlsbad E-mail Club on the course's official Web site, www.TheCrossingsatCarlsbad.com. By joining the free E-Club, guests can also enter to win a complimentary VIP package for four during opening week. For more information visit www.TheCrossingsatCarlsbad.com or call (760) 476-9933.
