Last month, Holidays in the Village brought the spirit of the season to downtown Carlsbad.
Holidays in the Village featured several fun family activities, a scavenger hunt, live music and special treats for shoppers on Wednesday evenings, window decorating contests and a weekend-long open house with special sales incentives, delicious goodies, live music and street performers. Also adding to the festivities was the Rotary Club of Carlsbad Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec. 2 at The Shops at Village Faire.
The Optimist Club of Carlsbad decorated the old-fashioned light poles on Carlsbad Village Drive with ribbons and garland. Holiday banners provided by the city of Carlsbad were on display throughout the Village.
“This is the first time that I know of where all of the civic and community organizations in the Village have come together to plan an overall program for the holiday season,” said Robin Young, executive director of the Carlsbad Village Business Association. “This is truly a case of the community coming together to bring excitement back to the Village.”
Young said the events were made possible by the joint efforts and support of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, city of Carlsbad, North County Transit District, Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, Carlsbad Convention & Visitors Bureau, Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Carlsbad, Carlsbad Optimist Club, Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Village Business Association's Holiday Committee.
