The award-winning New Village Arts Theatre is pleased to present the San Diego premiere of Kenneth Lonergan's “This is our Youth.”
The play will run through Feb. 17 at the theatre's new home at 2787 State St. in the Carlsbad Village. “This is our Youth” has proven itself popular among all theatre audiences, particularly the younger generation, for its edgy issues and modern themes. However, the play is a classic coming-of-age story told with razor-sharp humor and darkly comic turns.
It focuses upon the eternal challenges of adolescence and maturity. Set within the early years of the Reagan era, the characters mirror an American populous desperately searching for direction in a country determined to reject the 1960s-style liberalism upon which the play's young heroes, Dennis Ziegler, Warren Straub and Jessica Goldman, were raised.
The play is directed by Francis Gercke, the theatre's artistic director. New Village Arts Theatre was founded in 2001 by Gercke and Kristianne Kurner; bothare graduates of New York's Actors Studio Drama School. They are now beginning their seventh season of producing award-winning, critically acclaimed theatre in North County.

General admission tickets are $26, senior/student/military are $22 and groups of six or more are $20. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (760) 433-3245 or visiting www.NewVillageArts.org.
