Got hair? Then donate it to Locks of Love by partaking in the EmbroidMe Encinitas Hair Drive.
Hair donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday during the entire month of April at EmbroidMe Encinitas, 191 N. El Camino Real, Suite 202, Encinitas. Last September, owner Sandra Sapol donated her hair to Locks of Love in honor of her friend, Michelle Tehrani, who lost her six year battle with breast cancer in May of 2006.
“I felt I needed to do something to honor Michelle on the one-year anniversary of her death and I thought the best way to do that was to donate the 10 inches of hair that I had to Locks of Love,” Sapol said. “This year, my hair hasn't grown long enough to donate, so I decided to get the community involved. I'm hoping to get at least one mile of hair length donated.”
The Hair Drive will benefit Locks of Love, an organization that provides recipients with a custom, vacuum-fitted hairpiece made entirely from donated human hair. Donated hair must be at least 10 inches in length and bundled in a ponytail or braid. Hair that has been bleached, dyed or permed cannot be used.
