Residents can learn about Carlsbad beaches, water conservation, the Carlsbad Community Garden, the expanded senior center and summer events in “Summer Scene,” the new edition of the Carlsbad Community Update video.
“The summer Community Update gives residents timely information on issues and events in Carlsbad in a viewer-friendly format,” said Val Brown, the city's video production manager.
The 30-minute program includes segments on the city's beach preservation efforts and water conservation programs to help residents conserve water and protect the environment. Viewers also will also learn about the new Habitat for Humanity project in downtown Carlsbad and the newly restored Calavera reservoir, as well as take a tour of the recently expanded senior center. In addition, there is information about free and low-cost Carlsbad summer activities from Jazz in the Park to the library's Summer Reading Program.
The show also includes a public service announcement on the Carlsbad Fire Department's Water Watchers' program, which features fire department employees and their families.
The video runs through the end of August at 8 p.m. Mondays and at 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays on Time Warner Cable Channel 19. It also is available by going to www.carlsbadca.gov and clicking on the “Webcast” link.
The updates are produced as a service to residents through the city's Communications Department to inform citizens of issues, services and opportunities to get involved in city programs and activities.
