Gary Plantz joined the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce in October as the vice president of economic development and director of small business growth.
His responsibilities at the chamber include exploring and encouraging new businesses to startup in Carlsbad, as well as training and facilitating entrepreneurs in the development of those businesses through counseling, education and mentoring. The San Diego native has worked in the fields of health care administration, education administration, economic development consulting and television and radio production.
Plantz received his bachelor's degree in business administration from San Diego State University and his master's degree in business administration from National University. He also served three years of active duty in the U.S. Army.
Plantz and his wife, Connie, have two children and a pug named Bo.
