The months of planning and construction are nearing an end, and Tri-City Wellness Center will soon introduce a new era of health and fitness to coastal North County.
The Wellness Center will open its doors in early 2009, but neighbors can now visit the onsite Membership Center to learn about the facility's offerings.
“Unlike any other facility in the community, Tri-City Wellness Center approaches fitness and health from a medically-integrated perspective,” said Josh Mello, executive director of the Wellness Center. “We offer personalized health assessments and personal training, in addition to the medical component of cardiac rehabilitation, physical and occupational therapy. This is for people of compromised health who want to work their way back into shape under medical supervision.”
The center's technologically advanced facilities and selection of classes and programs are focused on addressing the every need of an individual's mind and body, leading to a more complete and fulfilling fitness experience.
All memberships begin with a personalized health assessment where a fitness specialist conducts a comprehensive analysis of the member's current physical condition. A team of
degreed and certified specialists, dieticians and health educators then work collaboratively with members to develop fitness programs that achieve the positive benefits of exercise, including weight management and improved quality of life.
The 60,000-square-foot center offers members a wide variety of exercise options, including strength training and cardiovascular equipment and a cushioned indoor walk/jog track. The center also features an aquatic center with a 25-meter lap pool, warm water activity and a state-of-the-art therapy pool with adjustable floor and variable water depth features.
The center offers comprehensive group exercise programming with four studios, including a mind and body studio featuring Pilates, yoga and Thai chi. In addition, the center can be a sanctuary from a stressful day with a visit to the spa, Zen garden or healthy caf?.
“This program is so different from anything you'll find in the area,” said Vernon Pertelle, assistant vice president of occupational medicine and rehabilitation at Tri-City Medical Center. “We feel strongly that Tri-City Wellness offers something for every age, fitness level and interest. We are really excited for the community to finally take advantage of it.”
As part of the medical fitness experience, the center will offer a wide array of medically-directed health education lifestyle programs.
There is an onsite health education conference center that includes a healthy cooking area where members can enjoy cooking lessons and workshops. The conference center also can be utilized by the community for meeting space and special events.
