Through March 31, the Museum of Making Music presents The Magic & Mystery of Slide Guitar, an exhibition that is the first of its kind to capture the essence and emotion evoked by slide guitar and slide technique.
Nearly 70 rare and historic instruments will be displayed during the exhibition, including pedal steel guitars, Hawaiian lap steel guitars and several instruments from across the globe that represent the many cultures of slide technique. In addition, some of today's most prolific ambassadors of slide technique will perform a series of concerts.
These artists include Hawaiian and world fusion guitarist Bob Brozman, who will perform Jan. 10; country steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar, who will perform Feb. 7 and blues lap steel guitarist Freddie Roulette, who will appear with free improviser Henry Kaiser and friends March 7.
