Scripps Coastal Medical Center has opened a new, two-story, 40,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art medical center at 2176 Salk Ave. in Carlsbad.
The medical center, off of El Camino Real between College Boulevard and Faraday Avenue, will provide Carlsbad and the surrounding communities with access to primary care physicians specializing in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. Additional offerings at the medical center include after hours pediatric care, a teen clinic, radiology services with advanced digital equipment, laboratory services, access to a spectrum of Scripps Health services and expanded access to specialty medical services.
Patients also will have access to Scripps' award-winning acute care hospitals in San Diego County. The medical center is prepared to serve the much needed and ever-growing North County community and the people who work here.
“The physicians and the entire health care team of Scripps Coastal Medical Center are thrilled to be bringing its tradition of excellence in clinical care and customer service to the Carlsbad community,” said Dr. Kevin Hirsch, president of Scripps Coastal Medical Group.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Oct. 13 to commemorate the opening of the medical center. Representatives from Scripps Health, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, H.G. Fenton Co. and the community were present for the festivities and shared enthusiasm about Scripps' presence in the community.
“This new clinic was built for everyone living in and around Carlsbad, and we are honored to have the opportunity to serve them for many years to come,” said Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO of Scripps Health.
Van Gorder also thanked the Carlsbad community for its support in the planning and construction phases. He said he is proud to give back to the community by providing a high-tech medical center.
A proclamation from Carlsbad Mayor Bud Lewis named Oct. 13 as Scripps Coastal Medical Center Day in recognition of the center. Scripps Coastal Medical Center is truly honored to become an integral part of the thriving Carlsbad Community.
“We are committed to making the health care experience here one that lives up to being a world of healing for the people of Carlsbad,” Hirsch said.
