The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce held a reception Dec. 11 for recently elected Assemblyman Martin Garrick and Carlsbad City Council members Ann Kulchin and Keith Blackburn at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa.
Members of the chamber's board of directors and government affairs committee had the opportunity to meet with the officials.
Garrick, 55, who was re-elected to his second term in the State Assembly and was instrumental in the successful fight to keep the 760 dialing code, stopped by for a few minutes before heading out to another community event. He represents Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Escondido, Oceanside, San Diego, San Marcos, Solana Beach, Vista and Rancho Santa Fe. He also is a member of the Assembly education, insurance and transportation committees.
Kulchin, 76, who was re-elected to her eighth term on the City Council, has helped craft the city of Carlsbad over the past 28 years and is a strong advocate of beach preservation. She is the chair of the SANDAG Shoreline Preservation Committee and an Encina Wastewater Authority board member.
Blackburn, 49, was elected to his first term on the council. He is a retired Carlsbad police officer, the managing partner of a residential and commercial real estate firm in Los Angeles and president of the Blackburn Foundation.
The chamber would like to thank the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa for hosting this great event and Garrick, Blackburn and Kulchin for attending.
