Visit Carlsbad represents a new name for the organization charged with the task of promoting Carlsbad as a travel destination.
The organization was previously called the Carlsbad Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Visit Carlsbad name has been connected to the destination since the www.visitcarlsbad.com Web site URL was first secured in 2001.
The Visit Carlsbad name is intended to create an immediate link in consumers' minds between the organization and existing marketing communications, including the Web site and the current “Visit Carlsbad, Endless Summer ” marketing campaign.
“This campaign effectively conveys the many elements that make Carlsbad such a wonderful place to meet and vacation,” said Sam Ross, executive director of Visit Carlsbad. “Our branding message is important in our efforts to serve as an economic engine for the many businesses that benefit from visitor spending.”
Visit Carlsbad wants to make a clear and memorable impact that will compel potential tourists and meeting planners to look further into everything Carlsbad has to offer. The new branding campaign is aimed at conveying Carlsbad's Southern California urban sophistication, family-friendly attractions and recreational diversity.
As part of the name change, Visit Carlsbad also will be unveiling a completely redesigned Web site early next year.
“The brand's intent is not to win a popularity contest, but to work toward making better use of the resources and efforts that are being used to market Carlsbad,” Ross said. “It strikes a passion with people when people are passionate with their hometown, and that is a good thing.”
Mindgruve, a digital media firm on contract with Visit Carlsbad, has defined key points to help Visit Carlsbad be THE Southern California family destination. The firm will visually feature beaches, palm trees, seashells, sun and fun with a casual, resort-like vibe.
Carlsbad's location and proximity to San Diego and Los Angeles will be a critical element of the brand positioning. Mindgruve will explore creatively how distinct our location is in relation to many world-class theme parks, cultural centers and activities.
Research is used extensively to determine best customer prospects, markets, campaign timing, messages and collateral materials, and to determine results. Visit Carlsbad will direct the marketing programs to focus on generating overnight leisure travel by consumers in selected drive markets and Internet marketing programs to target existing customers.
This is an exciting time for local tourism as Visit Carlsbad rolls out a new brand promise that Carlsbad can provide an entertaining family experience, year-round. The organization's catchy invitation, “Visit Carlsbad, Where to go for Fun,” is a fresh, new way of expressing Carlsbad's qualities that leisure travelers find so attractive.
