The 11th Annual Art in the Village, Artist and Artisans in Carlsbad event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 9 along State Street, Roosevelt Street and Grand Avenue in the Village.
The one-day art faire is held each year on the second Sunday of August. Every year, the event draws approximately 20,000 visitors to the downtown area.
Art in the Village features more than 100 local and regional fine artists in mediums like oil painting, watercolors, photography, mixed media, new media and classical and contemporary sculpture. It also includes artisans who work in the mediums of jewelry making, woodworking, furniture, pottery, hand-painted clothing and accessories.
Every artist and artisan who is participating has guaranteed the authenticity of their work and will be on-site so the public can meet each. The event is presented by the Carlsbad Village Association.
“Many of our artists are world-renowned and have had their art featured in major museums,” said Robin Young, executive director of the association. “We are so pleased with the caliber of artist our event is attracting.”
New to the event this year is a wide-variety of live music that will be featured throughout the faire, adding to the day's ambiance.
“Art is so vital to the heart of a community, and Art in the Village is a great way to spend the day in the Village.” Young said. “It's fun for the whole family with art, food, music and art demonstrations and lessons.”
