The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Business Expo Friday, September 24 at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa. More than 100 vendors are expected at the annual event, which showcases the products and services of the area's merchants and provenders. The event will also feature a forum for the candidates for Carlsbad City Council. The forum will be televised by Time Warner Cable.
In years past, the Business Expo has become one of the most-anticipated commercial opportunities in the community. Vendors have the opportunity to debut new products or services, reach out to loyal customers, and make new ones.
According to Bev Jorgensen, the Chamber's vice president of corporate and member relations, the Expo brings a multi-faceted marketing opportunity to its vendors.
“Not only do exhibitors have a chance to reach new segments of their target markets, they can network with their fellow merchants,” she said. “Creating strategic partnerships at events like the Expo can lead to some effective teamwork and profitable relationships among professionals.”
The candidate's forum will take place in an adjacent meeting space. As of Carlsbad Business Journal's press time, several candidates had already officially thrown their hats into the ring. Keith Blackburn, Farrah Douglas, Matt Hall, Julie Nygaard, Mark Packard, and Jon Wantz have confirmed they will participate in the forum held at the Business Expo. As this is the first time since 1986 that Carlsbad will elect a new mayor, this year's election is already fraught with excitement.
“The business community has several crucial issues in this election, so it will be interesting for Expo participants to see what the candidates have to say about the issues that effect commerce in Carlsbad,” Jorgensen said.
The Expo will include a Chamber Sundowner as well, an opportunity afforded by the elegant and spacious new venue.
“The addition of the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa as a sponsoring partner gives us the space to spread out and wrap up the event with friendly networking in some beautiful surroundings,” Jorgensen said.
In all, the event promises to be exciting and energizing to the Carlsbad business community. “We already know from talking to our Chamber members that business is really in an upswing this year,” Jorgensen said. “We feel that this Expo, the Sundowner and the candidate's forum will be an effervescent reflection of the great year we are having.”
