Many of the business owners are sole proprietors, and offer personalized attention and service to their customers. There is uniqueness among the businesses. Some of the businesses have been in the Village for many years while others are brand new. There is exciting change, but a lot remains the same and for many this is exactly what they want the Village to be – something old and something new.
The Village exists quietly, but it is full of excitement for those willing to seek it out it on a regular basis. New Village Arts offers award-winning theater. Pizza Port has won numerous awards for its microbrews. Paon Restaurant, which is a newcomer to the Village, is winning accolades from its customers and others for fine dining. Linda's Gifts has been offering unique and high quality gifts for years. Witt's Carlsbad Pipeline has been serving the surfing public with quality sporting good products for over two decades. Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort and the Daily News Caf? are celebrating business anniversaries, 25 years for the Resort and 20 years for the Caf?. Other long time businesses like Al's in the Village and the Grand Deli are big crowd- and tummy-pleasers. Gem seekers will enjoy Mulloy's Jewelry. The musically-inclined will be delighted with a longtime favorite, Giacoletti Music .The list of great businesses in the Village is long. The businesses noted provide a few great examples of the finds within the Village for those willing to take the challenge and experience it. The Village is like a secret garden. It needs to be explored on foot to uncover all of its secrets and surprises.
Visitors to the Village can find products from Ireland, Britain, France, Italy, Hawaii and other exotic locals. They also can travel the world through food,Mediterranean, French, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and top it off with fine chocolates , wine and other delicious desserts or a great cup of coffee.
Even with a challenging economy, new businesses have opened in the Village to add to the eclectic mix. New businesses include several new clothing boutiques such as Blues & Shoes, Fancy Pants, The Beat and Provence Bride. Relm Wine & Beer Bistro and Garden State Bagel add to the food and beverage delights you can find in the Village. New businesses are rounded out with a new fitness center, Carlsbad Wellness and Yoga, and Crafticality, a new art supply and instruction business.
The City Council has also directed staff to continue the revitalization effort by creating new opportunities for family-friendly events in the Village, and to expand opportunities for art and cultural programs. These efforts are intended to enhance the Village and the experience for its visitors. The Village has become, and is continuing to become, a place worth going. Take a day and discover, or re-discover, the Village. You might be pleasantly surprised by all the Village has to offer today. In the last community survey, 97 percent of the residents surveyed have visited the Carlsbad Village. Among those residents, 88 percent rated their experience positively. Those rating their experience as excellent visited the Village once a week or more.
