Your chamber wants you to know that membership counts. Small Businesses are the heart and soul of communities; ours is no different. You know that saying "ask and you shall receive?" We hope this answers that question.
The chamber hosted a "members only" "How to do Business with the Government Workshop" and we invited Caltrans, Life Technologies and San Diego Gas & Electric to have tabletops. More than 70 chamber members attended and were able to visit with the larger businesses. Members obtained information on how to get on their diversity supplier list, and learned how to get the proper certifications needed to get on the list
.
Each attendee walked away with a wealth of great information and I must say, I loved seeing the smiles on their faces. We have received great feedback from our members that attended who would not have been able to otherwise make these connections. If you missed this event, we plan to have another one in the fall.
The next "members only" event will be on Thursday, June 2 at Camp Pendleton from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This workshop is for our members to learn how to do business with the Base. There is no charge to attend, however, you must RSVP in advance. The Base will be offering attendees lunch for $9.50 should you chose to stay for lunch.
On July 20 we will host a Member Appreciation Day at the chamber office. We truly value each and every member and this will be your day to come and visit our office and enjoy networking with other members.
We have a new venue this year for the State of the City Luncheon which will be held on Friday, August 26 at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. This will be the first State of the City with our new Mayor, Matt Hall.
The chamber is now in the final planning stages for the annual Business Expo so save the date for Monday, September 12! We are excited to announce that this year's Expo will be hosted by the La Costa Resort & Spa in the Costa del Sol Conference Center.
Be sure to watch the weekly e-news for more information on reserving your booth space. La Costa Resort & Spa will also sponsor the Sundowner on the same evening to conclude the Expo.
Read the rest of the Carlsbad Business Journal as it is full of great information that you can use. Thank you for being a part of this great organization and if you are aren't a member and interested in membership, please contact our business development manager, Kristina McMahon.
