June is my birthday month and June 14, Flag Day, is my special day. Each year in June I try to reinvent myself, or at least my thoughts. Everything I focus on is tied somehow to success. I want to share a few of the thoughts I found this year for my June makeover of mind over matter.
• The eight "Ps" of Achievement: Plan Purposefully. Prepare Prayerfully. Proceed Positively. Pursue Persistently.
• Thomas Edison said it best: "I failed my way to success." Don't be afraid to fail. Every failure is a lesson learned.
• Beating the odds: You beat 50 percent of the people in America by working hard. You beat another 40 percent by being a person of honesty and integrity and standing for something. The last 10 percent is a dogfight in the free enterprise system. I personally like only having to defeat 10 percent of my competition.
• Success defined: A success is one who decided to succeed, and worked. A failure is one who decided to succeed, and wished. A decided failure is one who failed to decide, and waited. Opportunity knocks more than once; you just have to be home to answer the door.
• A good formula for success: Instruction + Example x Experience = Success.
• My last thought today is as follows: Without rest, a man cannot work. Without work, the rest does not give you any benefit. Remember, when you come to a fork in the road…take it. Don't follow someone else's footsteps. Proceed with confidence and leave a trail for others.
