It's that time again! Time to think about your costume and how you would like to participate in Halloween on Elm!
You will have a frightfully good time as you mingle with the ghosts of Elm Street past, present and future! Don't miss this good, old-fashioned fun time in the Village of Carlsbad from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 as we enjoy the spirits of Halloween. It is really just a reason to have a lot of family fun in the Village, and you are invited to join us for this event, now in its second year.
The Carlsbad Village Association will hold the weekly Saturday Farmers' Market in the Roosevelt Street Parking Lot. Several local businesses will provide a safe trick-or-treating environment and other activities for children and their parents throughout the Village. There will be an outdoor movie showing for kids of all ages after sunset.
The Fire Department will provide costume checks to help your child have a safe Halloween, and have some of their equipment on display. The Arts Department will host a costume contest and parade for pets and people, and have an art project of two for kids. The Library will host magical storytelling sessions. The departments of Parks and Recreation, Utilities, Community and Economic Development and the City Manager's Office will share their talents for hosting games and contests.
The Boys and Girls Club will again provide a Haunted House at their facility on the corner of Oak and Roosevelt avenues. Our Property and Environmental Management Department will assist with creating a spooky environment for the event. We are also working with the Carlsbad Educational Foundation and other community partners to provide additional activities to help in creating a fun-filled day with a focus on family-style fun. This is going to be a fantastic event that will demonstrate the amazing power of partnerships and community participation. Come, be a part of the fun!
Elm Street may now be Carlsbad Village Drive, but the rich history of the Village through the years lives on and is being celebrated through this fun Halloween event.
The activities will occur from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The location for the fun will be south of Carlsbad Village Drive, on State Street and Oak Avenue. We will be having a party in the street. The City Council's goal for this event is to encourage residents to visit and experience the Village, introduce (or re-introduce) Carlsbad families to the wide variety of businesses in the Village, and have some big, family-friendly fun!
We don't think you will want to miss this frightfully fun family-friendly day in the Village of Carlsbad! We're also looking for village businesses to join in the fun. Wear a costume all day. Host a Halloween-based activity. Provide candy for the trick-or-treaters. Decorate your store with a Halloween theme. Volunteer to help. Make some special business offers to families of Carlsbad. Or, just come and enjoy the Halloween fun!
