New Village Arts kicks off its 12th season with a return to Shakespeare in the Park with the bard's "Much Ado About Nothing."
The famous feuding lovers Beatrice and Benedict (Kristin Woodburn, making her NVA debut, and Max Macke) duke it out in vintage Carlsbad style. New Village Arts has produced seven previous Shakespeare in the Park productions in such locations as Carlsbad's Stagecoach Park, La Costa Canyon High School's amphitheater, and at the Moonlight Amphitheater and indoor Avo Playhouse.
This will be the first time NVA has produced this show and the first time presenting on the lawn at Pacific Ridge School. The inspiration for FREE Shakespeare in the Park in North County came from Executive Artistic Director Kristianne Kurner's time in graduate school in New York City, when annual trips to the Public Theatre in Central Park were a favorite pastime.
"The magic of seeing Shakespeare performed by professional actors under the stars (and for free!) is something that will stay with me always. I am thrilled to make this opportunity available here in Carlsbad," says Kurner.
