Women’s Empowerment International’s past president Carol Clause, and New Village Arts Theatre’s executive artistic director Kristianne Kurner received the first Woman to Woman Award at the third annual Glamour, Glitz, Hats and Heels held on Friday, June 9 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. “This signature event is designed to honor the strength and leadership of women,” said Toni Padron, executive vice president and COO at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. “It’s also an opportunity for women business leaders in Carlsbad and the North county region to network and gather tips from their peers.” Chamber Executive Vice President and COO Toni Padron opened the event with highlights on the contributions, issues, and successes of women in business. Padron introduced the event’s keynote speakers, Women’s Empowerment International’s past president Carol Clause, and New Village Arts Theatre’s executive artistic director, Kristianne Kurner. Clause talked about her passion for empowering women and shared several examples of how Women’s Empowerment International has been able to help women in poverty to have a say in determining the quality of their everyday lives with financial and social support. Meanwhile, Kurner spoke passionately about her role in creating a village-like environment where theatre patrons can experience the finest cultural events in an intimate setting and in helping women artists with the Foundry Artist Studios. The event wrapped up with an electrifying fashion show with chamber members as models displaying colorful outfits fit for an afternoon around town and versatile pieces for the office. The show was curated by Lisa O’Hearn with CAbi clothing, Carol Fehr with Mary Kay cosmetics provided makeup for all the wonderful models, and Megan King provided all the hair styling for the event. Event sponsors included Tri-City Medical Center, The Loftin Firm, P.C., Savvy Women Wealth Management, and WWM Financial. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Women’s Empowerment International.
