Celebrating Success and Leadership

On Friday, October 12, 2018, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce welcomed small business leaders to The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa to celebrate the 2018 Small Business Awards Luncheon. The event marked President & CEO, Ted Owen’s last signature event as head of the Chamber. Elected officials and members of the Board of Directors also attended the event. At the beginning of the ceremony, Ted Owen introduced La Costa Canyon High School junior, Gabriela Beltran, who performed a special rendition of the National Anthem on her flute. This year’s event theme was “Cultivating Success Through Leadership”, and no one better to talk about what this really means than Art Barter, CEO & Founder of the Servant Leadership Institute and Ken Blanchard best-selling author and one of the most influential leadership experts in the world. Their presentation, “Small Business Big Purpose” offered an honest and inspiring approach to conducting business in an increasingly competitive market. As always, reading the names of the award finalists and winners was the most important and exciting part of the luncheon. This year’s master of ceremonies was NBC 7 News reporter, David Summers. The Ohio native introduced the award presenters and helped celebrate the winners. Here’s the list of the winners and their stories.
