At our October First Friday Breakfast Dawn Herscher came and spoke with us. Dawn Herscher is an award-winning speechwriter, speaker, and storyteller. She lives in Carlsbad, CA with her husband and three little boys. Her career as a professional storyteller commenced as a Corporate Sales Manager in the hospitality industry, and then evolved over the next ten years as an executive in the nonprofit industry, and then onto speechwriting in the private sector.

Rising Stars of the Year Scholarship Winners – July 9, 2020
In 2019 the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce launched its first Rising Star of the Month program. Nearly 40 high school seniors from six different high schools were recognized for demonstrating character, integrity, love of learning, involvement in school and community activities and/or the ability to overcome challenging life circumstances without compromising their education. Six Rising Star of the Year $1,000 scholarships were awarded. The winners of the 2019-20 Rising Star of the Year scholarships are Luis Jofre, Carlsbad High School; Edward Gardner, Carlsbad High School; Aaliyah Rivas, La Costa Canyon High School; Samantha Low, Sage Creek High School; Sofia Hart, Pacific Ridge School; and Mary Fangman, Pacific Ridge School.
