San Diego Botanic Garden’s second annual World of Orchids runs through Sunday, June 12!

Check out the highlights, fun attractions, and attendee favorites for Southern Californians to add to your summer kick-off plans.

Bring a pop of color home at The Orchid Marketplace

  • On weekends the show will feature sales of plants, potting materials, reference guides, and other merchandise by vendors, conservation organizations, and local orchid societies. Vendors such as the San Diego Orchid Society, Everything Orchids and Tropical Plants will be bringing a variety of rare and unique plants for purchase including orchids as well as aroids! (view calendar here),

Take Advantage of Member Hour

  • Sundays and Mondays, 9 to 10 am, “Member Hour” gives Garden members exclusive access to the World of Orchids exhibition. Enjoy the vibrant colors, elegant shapes and intoxicating scents when they are at their strongest, first thing in the morning. Non-members can sign up to become members or enjoy the rest of the Garden until general opening at 10am.

Sign Up For An Orchid Class

  • Book an orchid-themed class during the run of the World of Orchids exhibition and learn about different orchid species that can be grown at home, discover tips for orchid care, and master new crafts that feature orchids. Instructors Alex Nadzan, co-president of the Palomar Orchid Society and John Clements, Director of Gardens at SDBG, will teach budding green thumbs what they need to know about orchids.

As a reminder, members of SDBG and other gardens participating in the American Horticultural Society’s Reciprocal Admissions Program receive free admission. Non-member admissions range from $12 to $18. Entrance to the exhibition includes access to the rest of the Garden’s 37 acres during your visit. Reserve an entrance date and time here
