Students achieve excellence through challenge at Pacific Ridge

At Pacific Ridge School, students in grades 6 through 12 are equipped and inspired to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. Talented faculty, small classes, advanced coursework, and innovative facilities help students achieve the goals they set for themselves. They learn to confidently approach new ideas, ask the right questions, and think beyond what’s in front of them to make connections and find their path.

HARKNESS LEARNING
It starts with seminar-style classes around “Harkness” tables. Each student is seen, heard, and included, developing critical thinking and communication skills, as well as an understanding of different perspectives. Students become comfortable with difficult conversations, feel confident expressing themselves, and hone their ability to ask questions.

GROWTH THROUGH EXPERIENCE
Through interactive coursework, a weekly service-learning program, arts, athletics, and student-led activities, students are empowered to experiment with new ideas and interests, pursue their passions, and develop their voice. A unique schedule incorporates most of these activities into the school day, promoting opportunity and life balance.

GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT
At the end of each school year, students and faculty travel across the country and around the world for cultural exploration, world language study, and service. These experiences help students think beyond themselves, develop empathy, and prepare to contribute to the world. Gaining perspective on their own lived experiences gives students a broadened worldview, expanding the possibilities for what they choose to do next.

COMMUNITY OF CARE
Teachers take an active role in student well-being, working together to understand each student’s needs. They offer support, kindness, and understanding, whether it’s in the classroom, on campus, or traveling the world. Families are a welcome part of the community.

THE MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
Students in grades 6 through 8 learn new ways of thinking and communicating, tackling real-world issues with collaborative solutions. Students have opportunities to challenge themselves and develop new interests. Reflecting on these experiences, students deepen their knowledge of who they are as learners, community members, artists, athletic team members, travelers, and friends.

THE UPPER SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
Students in grades nine through 12 continue their explorations in an environment that allows them to pursue their interests in-depth. A robust curriculum with honors and AP courses is matched with opportunities in student-led service groups, clubs, activities, athletics, the arts, and global travel. When it comes time to apply to college, Pacific Ridge students understand what they want from their college experience, and the skills they’ve learned allow them to flourish, in college and beyond.
