Family fun under the stars returns to Carlsbad Village

One of Carlsbad Village’s most cherished summer traditions is back! Flicks at the Fountain returns Thursday, July 10 through August 7, bringing family, friends, and neighbors together for five fun-filled Thursday nights of free outdoor movies in the heart of the Village.

Presented by the Carlsbad Village Association (CVA) and supported by generous community sponsors, this year’s lineup features a perfect mix of animated adventures, musical favorites, and a brand-new superhero blockbuster to cap off the season.

Since 2013, 71 movies ranging from Princess Bride to Grease to Top Gun, and everything in between, have appeared on the big screen. The perfect mix of nostalgic throwbacks, classic musicals, animation, and Academy Award winners have kept local audiences coming back year after year. Or, maybe it is the intense sense of community that keeps them coming back.

Flicks at the Fountain will feature five movies, each starting around 8pm (or dusk) and lasting approximately two hours. Attendees need to bring low-back chairs; a cozy blanket is recommended. Pack a picnic dinner or grab a bite in the Village. Or, better yet, pick up something in the Village and eat al fresco at the fountain parking lot with a hundred or more of your friends and neighbors. You can drop your chairs and secure your spot, starting at 6pm, and enjoy Trivia With Tim, crafts by the Madd Hatters, and more, while waiting for the movie to begin. Flicks at the Fountain has been a free community event from the very start thanks to generous sponsorships of local businesses including Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, Lily Field Realty, and the Carlsbad Police Officers Foundation, as well as 13 others.
