Protecting your most treasured assets
Have you ever been forced to evacuate your home and wondered if it would still be standing when you came back? As Southern Californians, many of us have indeed had this experience. And if you personally haven’t, you probably know someone who has. What do you take with you? Do you have time to grab all the photo albums, videos, and computers that store your family history? What about photos on the walls? There are certainly plenty of stories of families who had to evacuate so quickly that they couldn’t grab anything. They escaped with the clothes on their back while all their treasured family memories were lost.
Rachel Arbuckle had this exact experience in 2014 when she had to evacuate her San Marcos home due to the Cocos Fire. She literally had seconds to evacuate as the winds kicked up. She, her family, and her pets all got out safely. However, she shared, “For four days we sat at the bottom of our street looking up at the hill watching this fire, not knowing if we would have a home to come back to.” During those four long days, she reflected on what disarray her family photos and memories were in and how she couldn’t have gathered them together in a timely way that was required by this evacuation. She vowed that if they survived, she was going to organize them. Thankfully, they did survive. And Rachel stayed true to her word…and then some.
Out of this experience, Rachel created 2000 Paces Photo Organizing. 2000 Paces is a personalized photo organizing company. They provide a variety of services to help you achieve your vision for your important collection of photographic memories. It does not matter if your memories are stored in photo albums, boxes, on computers, on VHS, or on your phone; they will assist you in organizing, protecting, and preserving them.
Most of us do not think about the disarray of our family memories until a significant event is coming up (60th birthday, 50th wedding anniversary, etc.) or has already taken place (passing of a grandparent, etc.). With the majority of photos being stored digitally now, there is frequently no central place to even start searching. 2000 Paces is helping people organize their memories before the need to frantically call or email family members seeking pictures to add to that event.
Last month, 2000 Paces Photo Organizing was awarded Small Business of the Year at the annual Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce CBAD Awards. Congratulations to Rachel and her team.
