Celebrating leadership that strengthens Carlsbad

Each year, the CBAD Awards give us an opportunity to recognize the individuals and organizations that help make Carlsbad a thriving place to live, work, and do business. While every nominee represents excellence in their own right, two honorees stood out this year for their leadership, service, and impact on our community.

It is my privilege, on behalf of the Carlsbad Chamber Board of Directors, to congratulate Erin Hardin, Director of Community Relations at Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, our 2026 Young Professional of the Year, and Melanie Robertson, owner of Melanie Robertson Photography, our 2026 Business Professional of the Year.

These awards are about more than professional accomplishments. They recognize individuals who lead with purpose, invest in others, and make meaningful contributions to the Carlsbad community.

As Young Professional of the Year, Erin Hardin represents the next generation of leadership in our region. Through her work at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, Erin’s commitment to professional excellence, community involvement, and relationship-building reflects the qualities we hope to inspire in emerging leaders throughout Carlsbad. She demonstrates that leadership is not defined by age or title, but by the positive impact we have on those around us.

Business Professional of the Year Melanie Robertson, owner of Melanie Robertson Photography, exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit and community-minded leadership that drive our local economy forward. Her dedication to business excellence, innovation, and giving back has made a lasting difference not only through her business, but throughout the broader Carlsbad community. Melanie’s success serves as a reminder that strong businesses and strong communities grow together.

What makes these honorees especially deserving is their shared commitment to lifting others up. Whether mentoring future leaders, supporting local initiatives, creating opportunities, or strengthening community connections, both Erin and Melanie embody the values that make Carlsbad such a
remarkable place.
