Teachers, administrators and school staff were honored at the 2015 Outstanding Educational Programs Dinner. This is the 21st year the OEP has been awarding teachers and administrators for their outstanding efforts to connect with our future entrepreneurs, engineers, artists, and scientists that will make our world a better place.
The dinner was emcee’d by Encinitas Union School District assistant superintendent, Leighangela Brady and Rick Grove, Carlsbad Unified School District’s assistant superintendent, personnel services.
Teachers of the Year for both Carlsbad Unified School District and Encinitas Union School District were recognized in front of a crowd of more than 250 teachers, business owners and chamber officials.
There were 27 nominated programs in the ARTS, Civic Responsibility, Entrepreneurial, and STEM (Science Technology Engineering, or Mathematics) categories.
The program winners from each category were:
- ARTS Program: “The Orphan Train” Judi Stapleton, Calavera Hills Middle School.
- Civic Responsibility Program: “Seeds of Knowledge School Garden & Farm” Jennifer Bond, Ocean Knoll Elementary School.
- Entrepreneur Program: Kid aKademy “Kids teaching Kids” Jeanne Benowitz, Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary School.
- STEM Program: “Computer Coding and Programming Class” Barbara Lamb, Capri Elementary School.
