As a proud member of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, I have had the honor to serve as an ambassador for the last 3 years. When I started as branch manager of Manpower back in 2008, I was tasked with creating strong relationships with businesses in North County and ensuring that the company was recognized as a staffing and as a resource for HR solutions.
I can confidently say that our involvement with the Chamber had helped me to accomplish both.
I came to Manpower in the summer of 2003 looking for career opportunities after being laid off, which is the same position many of our candidates find themselves. I was offered the staffing assistant position on a temporary basis (yes, we do use our own service) and 6 months later I was promoted to a recruiter role and hired on as a permanent employee.
I attribute my success in staffing and with Manpower to my experiences in those first 6 months. Not only did I have an understanding of what our candidates go through when they walk in the door, but also the knowledge that with hard work and persistence, a temporary position can turn into a career.
Since my promotion in January of 2004, I have had the opportunity to work on the Cirque Du Soleil project for the San Diego market. That experience led to the opportunity of becoming the on-site supervisor for the Callaway Golf account. Working as an on-site supervisor exposed me to profit and loss responsibilities, team leadership and operational management that eventually led to my current position as branch manager.
My progressive career development within Manpower has allowed me to learn the industry and company from the ground up contributing tremendously to my success.
Although Manpower is a global staffing firm with more than 4,000 offices worldwide, in San Diego County we are a locally-owned franchise, giving me the best of both worlds.
The owners, Phil Blair and Mel Katz, are very involved in the business and philanthropic communities and encourage their teams to do the same.
In addition to my involvement with the Carlsbad Chamber, I work closely with the North County Health Services and North County Personnel Association. These relationships allow me to represent Manpower and its vision to lead in the creation and delivery of innovative workforce solutions and services that enable organizations and people to win in the changing world of work.
