What's makes a winner? Simple answer; winners are always successful. Here's why.
An author whose name is lost to obscurity once wrote:
Winners judge themselves not by their intentions, but by the end result of their achievements. Winners know how to be serious without being solemn, sour, or long-faced. They know how to laugh at themselves without putting themselves down.
"Winners know before they can 'have' or 'be,' they must first 'do' and 'become.' The only place reward comes before work is in its listing in the dictionary.
"Winners don’t judge others by themselves or themselves by others. They judge each person by comparing what he or she is with what he or she can become, and try to stir that person to their untapped potential!
"Winners refuse to conform to the mold of an average person. They make their own rules within ethical standards and give the rest of the world a star at which to shoot! They know the only authority is moral authority.
"Winners believe in fate, but it is a fate they determine, control, and guide by what they do and what they are.
"Winners are totally oblivious to the cheers or jeers of the crowd. They know they are made up partly of people who 'wish they were,' and others who 'wish they hadn’t been.'
"Winners never allow themselves to entertain fears, doubts or worries when they fall behind. They conserve their energies, picking up the pace while saving strength for the 'kick' that puts them at the head of the pack in the finishing stretch.
"Winners welcome a challenge. They are never threatened. They are excited, delighted, and pleased. Their pulse beats faster, their reflexes are quicker, but their breathing is free and easy as they meet a challenge. They are poised and ready, anxious for the competition."
Three cheers to all the winners of San Diego!
