Dining, awards and magic.
This year, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce's Annual Awards and Installation Dinner will include a little of each.
The event, which will be at 6 p.m. March 2, is a celebration of the success of Carlsbad's business and community leaders whose contribution to the region have made lasting impacts not only on the North County business environment, but the community at large.
"The chamber's annual (dinner) serves two purposes. First, it congratulates the outgoing board of directors and salutes the incoming new chairman and his board of directors. Second, it allows the chamber to salute a variety of members for their leadership and success in business," said Ted Owen, chamber president and CEO.
This year, the event is taking place during the chamber's year-long 85th anniversary celebration.
"We are very excited to be hosting this event during such a momentous year for the chamber," said Lisa Manemann, special events director for the chamber.
This year's award nominees run the gamut from small to large businesses, and include community leadership recognition.
Employing the chamber's 85th anniversary slogan, "Defining Carlsbad's Past, Present and Future," the dinner will feature past chamber presidents, current business leaders, and city and community members.
"It is going to be a magical evening celebrating the past, present and future of Carlsbad," Manemann said. "This year's event is not to be missed."
Since its inception in 1922, the chamber has served as a trusted voice in Carlsbad's community. Pre-dating the city's foundation, the chamber's initial activities included tree trimming and building and painting street signs.
The dinner will be a reflection of the chamber's significance in Carlsbad and the vital role it plays in the community.
