The Marines at the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton are there for an intense six-week program to learn the skills and tactics of infantry warfare. Their grueling schedule keeps them busy six days a week and does not permit them to leave the base during their training.

In order to uplift their spirits and say 'Thank You' for their voluntary service to defend our country and freedom, the Carlsbad Chamber's Armed Services Committee hosted a rally complete with food fun and prizes. The first rally was held in December of last year.

"We wanted to thank these Marines for their hard work and dedication to our people and our country. What better way to do so than with a bunch of classic cars, a BBQ, free gifts and a relaxing day of fun," said Ted Owen, Carlsbad Chamber president and CEO.

The day included prize giveaways with chance drawing items like MP3's, Winchester multi-tools, a paintball gun with gear, back packs filled with gifts, protein bars, t-shirts and other fun items. In addition, a free 100 minute calling card was given to each of the 1,500 plus Marines by AT&T.
